What’s New

I want to take this time to update you on a few changes to my practice. After 25 years of putting up with me, Nancy Tonkin has decided it is time to retire. Nancy will be retiring at the end of May. Nancy and her husband Gary want to spend more time with their 5 grandchildren and working on their property in Eramosa Township. Over the years, I have become very dependent on Nancy. Many clients call her directly to make sure they get the right answer first. She has become a friend to many and is always quick to ask to see family pictures or find out how you are making out. Nancy has been more than my administrative assistant. She started working with me when the twins were just born, she became a support to our family whenever life threw us a curve. I will miss her diligence and her candor. Covid protocols and the closing of our office created a whole new set of unforeseen issues, Nancy was instrumental in getting us back on track and helping our clients. I will not let Nancy get away without having some sort of celebration, but it has to be in-person. When it is safe to get together, I will have a proper send-off to let her know how much she is appreciated.

Nancy has big shoes to fill, and I know that I have found the right person to fill the position. Katherine Braby will be joining me on May 3rd. After seventeen years in the healthcare industry, Katherine recently graduated from the Business Finance Program at Conestoga College. In addition to her Canadian Securities Certification, she intends to have her Certified Financial Planning designation and insurance licencing in the next 24 months. She is excited to join my team and looks forward to connecting with each of you.

Born and raised in Clifford, Ontario, Katherine moved to the Waterloo region in 1990 and currently resides there with her two sons though she remains a small-town girl at heart. As she has done for the last 19 years, Katherine’s favourite way to kick off the weekend is with her baseball team every Friday night May through September. She enjoys staying active and spending as much time outside as possible whether it’s fishing, hiking, kayaking, or camping.

Katherine and David continue to work safely from their home offices.  They hope to be back in an office setting this fall.
